BEHIND THE RESEARCH

Hi, I'm
Fangjie.

I build adaptive robotic systems from smart materials and architected structures.

My research explores how programmable materials and mechanical design can enable robots to move, adapt, and interact with their environment.

I am interested in how a robot's physical structure can shape its behavior, bringing together soft robotics, mechanical intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

When I'm not working, I enjoy badminton, tennis, fishing, archery, and spending time with my cat, Eevee.
